It was a disappointing night for the Brazilian clubs in the Copa Libertadores as none of them, including defending champions Santos, were able to win.
Indeed, Santos suffered the biggest shock of the tournament so far as they conceded an injury-time goal to lose 2-1 to The Strongest in La Paz.
Playing at 3,600 metres above sea level, the visitors started brightly and took the lead in just the 10th minute when goalkeeper Daniel Vaca failed to hold a free-kick and Henrique scored.
But the Bolivian side hit back, with Ernesto Cristaldo driving a shot inside the post to equalise and then Rodrigo Ramallo heading in Pablo Escobar's injury-time corner to seal a famous victory in Group One.
It was a similiar story in Group Six as Ralf headed home deep into added time to rescue a 1-1 draw for Corinthians at Venezuela's Deportivo Tachira.
The Brazilians were far from their best throughout the game and were behind from the 21st minute when Sergio Herrera capitalised on a failed clearance to score.
But the hosts were denied victory at the death as Alex curled in a free-kick and Ralf headed home.
In Buenos Aires, Cesar Carranza scored just a minute after coming off the bench to secure a 1-1 draw for Lanus against Flamengo.
Leo Moura gave the Brazilians the lead on the stroke of half-time but they were unable to hold on as Mariano Pavone turned back Silvio Romero's cross for Carranza to score.
