Diego Simeone's 16-year-old son Giovanni has signed a three-year deal with River Plate that features a buy-out clause of €15 million.
The striker has been playing in the River Plate's youth teams since 2008 and scored 26 goals in 22 games last year.
Atletico Madrid, who Diego Simeone played for twice, were reported to be interested in signing Giovanni over the summer but the buy-out clause is intended to keep the youngster at River for the foreseeable future. Not that he is interested in leaving the club right now. The eldest son of Diego dreams of playing for River Plate in the top flight and opted to stay with the club despite their recent relegation.
And Giovanni is not the only Simeone with River Plate, as both Gianluca and Giuliano play in the youth teams of the Buenos Aires club.
