Argentina have named a provisinal 18-man squad for their upcoming friendly with Switzerland in Berne, and there are a couple of surprise inclusions in Alejandro Sabella's list.
The former Estudiantes coach has given a first call up to Napoli's 31-year-old centre back Hugo Campagnaro, while Maxi Rodríguez makes a return after a long spell away from the national team; the Liverpool midfielder has not appeared for the Selección since the defeat to Germany at the World Cup in South Africa.
Meanwhile Erik Lamela and Daniel Díaz both receive their first call ups under Sabella; if Lamela appears against the Swiss on February 29, it will be the first time he has played for the Albiceleste outside of Argentina.
Defender Nicolás Burdisso and playmaker Javier Pastore both miss out on the squad due to injury, but Sabella has named an otherwise strong squad with the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Agüero expected to feature in the friendly.
The Argentine FA also announced that the current 18-man squad will be fleshed out with domestic-based players in due course.
