The fixtures for the 2011 Apertura campaign have been released by the AFA (Argentine Football Association), and for the first time the superclasico is missing from the calendar due to River Plate's relegation in the 2010/11 season. The Superclasico is not the only derby missing from the fixture list this season though, as Huracan's relegation means their clasico with San Lorenzo is absent from the calendar, as are those between Newell's Old Boys and Rosario Central, and Estudiantes and Gimnasia La Plata.
Some of the more notable fixtures of the campaign include Racing Club-Independiente in Week 10, and the clasico between Union de Santa Fe and Colon in Week 4, while Boca Juniors face San Lorenzo in the same week before travelling to Independiente in Week 5.
The opening round will take place on the weekend of the 5th-7th August, with the pick of the ties being Godoy Cruz's clash at home to Velez Sarsfield. The Mendoza side pushed Velez for some time in the last Clausura campaign but were not able to prevent them from clinching the title.
