Adriano scored his first goal in 18 months to keep Corinthians two points clear at the top of the Brazilian Campeonato with two games remaining.
The former Roma and Inter Milan striker came off the bench midway through the second half with Corinthians trailing 1-0 at home to a goal from Atletico Mineiro's Leonardo Silva. Liedson levelled the scores on 77 minutes and Adriano then sparked wild celebrations as his left-footed shot completed the comeback with just two minutes remaining.
Speaking after the match, Adriano said: "This goal is very important for me. After more than a year without scoring, to be able to score such a goal is hard to explain. I still have a lot to do but Tite [Corinthians coach] put his confidence in me and I managed to score at the end."
Vasco da Gama kept up the pressure on the league leaders with a 2-0 win over basement side Avai. The game was goalless at the interval but strikes from Felipe and Elton gave Vasco the victory that keeps them two points off the pace.
After scoring four goals in midweek, Fred scored a hat-trick in Fluminense's impressive 4-0 win at high-flying Figueirense. Marco Antonio was also on target for Flu, who are five points behind Corinthians and host Vasco in a mouthwatering clash next weekend.
Leandro Damiao and Oscar helped Internacional beat Botafogo 2-1 and move up into the Copa Libertadores qualifying places. Damiao scored on the stroke of half-time to give Inter the lead and Oscar made it 2-0 before Felipe netted for the hosts.
Internacional are level on points with Figueirense and Flamengo, the latter of whom drew 0-0 at Atletico Goianiense. Sao Paulo, meanwhile, ended America Mineiro's three-match winning run as they triumphed 3-1 thanks to two goals from Luis Fabiano and one from Juan.
Leonardo scored on the hour mark to give Coritiba a 1-0 win over Santos and Felipe Azevedo boosted Ceara's survival hopes with a hat-trick in their 3-1 triumph at Gremio. Also at the bottom, Cruzeiro and Atletico Paranaense played out a 1-1 draw that does little to help either side and Palmeiras beat Bahia 2-0 thanks to goals in either half from Ricardo Bueno and Marcos Assuncao.
