Colombian international Dayro Moreno has returned to Once Caldas on a six month loan deal.
Moreno signed for Mexican club Tijuana in June 2011 for around €2.5m, but failed to convince and he has been allowed to return to Colombia on loan until the end of the season.
Tijuana had been in contact with Copa Sudamericana champions Universidad de Chile in regards to a possible €300,000 move, but when negotiations collapsed Once Caldas acted quickly to bring the forward back to the club for the third time.
"Tijuana have enabled the players arrival at the club only until June 30, then he should return, but for this stage of the tournament, and if we advance in the Copa Libertadores, I hope he will be able to shine", Once Caldas manager Duván Vasquez explained.
Moreno, who has played in Romania for Steaua Bucharest, had struggled for first team opportunities at Tijuana and has decided to return to Colombia in the hope that he will recapture his best form.
"Dayro is making a huge sacrifice economically, and the truth is we wanted him in the team after the opportunity arose for a final reinforcement" according to Vasquez.
Tijuana officials have supported the short term move, expressing their hope that Moreno will return stronger following his spell in Colombia.
"We also hope that during this period that he gets his second wind for when he returns to Tijuana in the second half of the season and can play", the clubs director of football explained.
The return of local favourite Moreno will give a boost to Once Caldas' hopes of challenging for this seasons Colombian championship and qualifying for next years Copa Libertadores.
