Emelec overturned a two goal deficit at home against Macará with an inspired second half perfromance. Macará took the lead as Osbaldo Lupo struck from the edge of the box on 17 minutes. Argentine striker Luciano Figueroa talked himself into a red card on 34 minutes. Emelec's experienced striker was booked for dissent, but continued to protest and was sent off with a second yellow within a matter of seconds. Carlos Luis Quintero doubled the away sides advantage just before the break; picking the ball up on the left, the winger skipped past a defender and tucked the ball past the keeper at the near post.
The Emelec turnaround began early in the second half as the home side reduced the deficit from the penalty spot. Marlon de Jesús turned Brazilian defender Luis Carlos inside-out and as the defender tumbled he fell into the path of the striker who went down and won a penalty. The Macará captain was then dismissed for a second yellow card, to the bemusement of his team-mates. Substitute Enner Valencia took responsibility from twelve yards, and smashed the penalty to the left. Valencia scored an excellent equalizer on 80 minutes; lifting the ball over the goalkeeper from the right after a neat one-two at the edge of the box. The winner came a minute later as Valencia topped an excellent second half by crossing for de Jesús to volley past Mora in the Macará goal.
LDU Quito comfortably beat Deportivo Olmedo 5-0 on Saturday to stay top after two games. It was a routine win for the home side, who took the lead early and remained on top throughout the 90 minutes. Cevallos Enriquez stooped to head LDU ahead on 11 minutes and Hidalgo finished superbly from the edge of the box on 24 minutes. Claudio Bieler added a third a minute before the break. In the second half Bieler fired an excellent freekick into the top corner before completing his hat-trick three minutes later from close range.
Técnico Universitario picked up a point at home against Barcelona in Ambato. Jayro Campos slid a powerful low cross into his own net to give the home side the lead early in the first half. Barcelona drew level on the 73rd minute, as substitute José Manuel Ayoví clipped an excellent cross to the far post for Mina to head into the bottom corner.
Deportivo Cuenca scored a late winner to beat Independiente 3-2 on Saturday. Independiente lead at the break, but Fajardo drew the home side level on 53 minutes. The away side regained the lead on 53 minutes before Laurito pulled Deportivo level from the spot. Oswaldo Ibarra was given a yellow card for the foul which allowed Cuenca back into the game. Ibarra protested the decision vociferously and was given a second yellow for his protests. With the game finely balanced at 2-2, the home side looked to capitalise on their numerical advantage. The winner came late into injury time as Byron Cano picked up the ball on the left. Cutting inside he fired a wonderful shot into the top right hand corner beyond the reach of replacement keeper Padilla.
Deportivo Quito fielded a weakened side, ahead of the Copa Libertadores tie against Defensor Sporting, and were punished by El Manta Fútbol Club. Quito lead at half time following an early strike by Dixon Arroyo. Despite their lead, Manta had the better chances and their pressure paid off on the 54th minute. Bone bundled Roberto Mina to the ground and Marquez drove the penalty to the keepers left. The home side were reduced to ten men as Romero was given a second yellow on the 82nd minute before veteran striker Carlos Garcés came off the bench to give Manta the win.
The final game in Serie A finished goalless between LDU Loja and El Nacional at the Estadio Federativo Reina del Cisne.
