Universidad Catolica produced a spirited comeback to draw 1-1 with Bella Vista in the first round of the Copa Sudamericana last night in Montevideo.
The Chilean giants went behind in the 23rd minute when Ignacio Nicolini beat Cristopher Toselli with a well-taken penalty.
However, Pablo Calandria equalised for the Uruguayans just 12 minutes later, heading Felipe Gutierrez's wicked free-kick past Nicolas Gentilio.
With the precious away goal secured, Universidad will be strong favourites for the return leg which will be played on Aug 16 in Santiago.

Mario Leguizamon's early opener for the Peruvians was cancelled out by Oscar Rodas' half-volley in the 51st minute.
The return leg will be held in Bogata on August 23.
